The Durham boats that crossed the Delaware with George Washington. It took 11 hours to get all the soldiers across.

Reporting for duty, Captain!

We visited Washington's Crossing (where he crossed the Delaware River to win a major battle against the British). We met up with our long lost camp friend, Cheryl Stumpf, and had fun walking the premises on this cool, wet day. It didn't rain on us, though, so we were grateful! This bldg. was used as a hospital of sorts for the soldiers.

Here, Jeff, is giving a "lecture" on the finer points of this property. Necessity room, hmmm.

Kara loved the sheep roaming in the field and took a lovely picture of them :)!

This tower was built in the 1930s to commemorate the crossing. It overlooks many of the old buildings in this area.

While in Jersey last week, we went out to lunch with our Pastor By. He took us to a hot dog joint that's been around since Jeff was a boy - Fenz Brothers (sp?). They top their dogs with a special sauce their Norwegian grandmother concocted . . . DELICIOUS (and that's from the girl who isn't crazy about dogs :). It is quite the experience!

The kids' favorite stop in historic Philadelphia was Ben Franklins' print shop. The ranger was full of neat information and showed the kids how to work the old print press.

We also made it to Independence Hall. The boys were really attentive to all the guide taught us!

How's this for a tourist shot :)! The history lesson here is that until the 80s no building in Philadelphia could be taller than William Penn's hat (he's on top of the state bldg). Today there are many high rises much taller!

We were able to make it down to the historical district of Philadelphia. What a neat city!! Emma and Caleb and Mrs. Beth joined us, too!
Between my little Thanksgiving cooking projects and packing a box here and there, I'm trying to catch up the blog before we leave on Saturday. We have had such a good time this side of the country and all our stops in between! I'm so grateful for the timing of this journey, and the special moments we've had as a family and with other special friends and extended family! What a blessing! We're mixed with sad and glad as we prepare to return to MT! What a great opportunity we've had! Thanks to ALL who loved on us this whole trip (and those who will love on us on our way back)!! Look forward to seeing those special folks awaiting us in MT, too!!!
Walk through heart. It's been around since Jeff was a kid :)!

This thing measured the amount of blood in your body by cups. You stood on a scale and according to your weight it estimated how much of that was made up of blood.

Who do you think this was???

Checking out the giant pendulum clock. It reach down 4 floors!!! We wanted to see pegs knocked down (every 25 minutes or so), but we were too busy to stay that long :)!

In the space command room in Franklin Institute the kids could attempt to build their own moon buggy. Below is a model of the real thing.

Cool lessons in gravity. Jacob and Kara pumping to force water up in the fountain.

More in the physics room. Push the balls up and the tiny one on top soars up the wire when the other three land back at the bottom.

We took a day to check out the Franklin Institute, a very cool science museum. The physics room was super fun!

Jacob challenged Mr. Mike to try some tofu. Jacob sauteed it himself in Italian dressing with carrots. He's a budding chef :)!
Emma was a bride for Halloween this year and let Kara try on her dress! Isn't she beautiful!

"We're getting married," says Kara.

Yummy fun at mealtime.

The whole crew of kids! Thanks, Wiegands!
